On this Memorial Day, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the holiday.
For many, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer filled with cookouts, travel, laughter, and time spent with family and friends. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the long weekend, but it is also important to remember why this day exists in the first place.
Memorial Day was established to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Behind every name is a family forever changed, loved ones left grieving, and a story of courage that should never be forgotten. Today, I especially remember those who never made it home, including friends and military families whose sacrifices continue to leave a lasting impact years later.
As we gather this weekend, may we do so with gratitude, reflection, and respect for those who gave everything for the freedoms we often take for granted.
