From Freedom to Locked In

Last week, I wrote about the freedom that came with Yalaynah finally having her own car. It wasn't just about transportation. It was about breathing again after years of sharing rides, adjusting schedules, and making the best of difficult circumstances.

Freedom wasn't the destination, it was the beginning.

Now it's time to get locked in, not because someone told me I have to, because I'm chasing perfection, or because I'm trying to prove anything to anyone.

I'm choosing to be locked in because I want my habits to reflect the life I'm working so hard to build. For me, that starts with taking better care of the body God has given me. That means making cardio a priority—not just to lose weight, but to strengthen my heart, increase my endurance, and have the energy to fully enjoy the life I'm building. It means incorporating weight training because strength matters and every workout is an investment in the future version of myself. It means returning to intermittent fasting because I've learned it helps me be more intentional about how I fuel my body.

It means drinking more water, reaching for soda less often, and making choices that leave me feeling refreshed instead of sluggish. And yes...even living here in Savannah Georgia, where sweet tea and fried food are everywhere, I've realized they simply don't make me feel my best. Feeling healthy, energized, and clear-minded matters more to me than satisfying a craving in the moment.

This season isn't about restriction, it's about alignment. I want my daily habits to support the purpose God has placed on my life. I want my choices to reflect the woman I'm becoming, because freedom gave me the opportunity to build something different. Now it's my responsibility to make the most of it.

Every healthy meal. Every workout.

Every 40 ounces of water I drink from my Stanley cup.

Every decision to stay consistent.

Those small choices may not seem significant today, but over time they become the foundation for lasting change.

Freedom gave me room to breathe, now I'm choosing to move forward with purpose.

Freedom creates opportunity and discipline determines what we do with it.
